World Matchplay Darts 2nd round Tuesday previews

Rag2gar previews the second round matches in the World Matchplay Darts withall 4 matches on Tuesday analysed.

Peter Wright v Andrew Gilding

Peter Wright was fantastic in his first round match, averaging 108 and anywhere close to that kind of performance will see him safely through to the quarter finals tonight.

Andrew Gilding on the other hand averaged 12 points lower as he scraped past an under par Mervyn King to book his place in the second round. Based on the first round performances and the big stage experience I really think Gilding should have very little chance of winning here.

Simon Whitlock v Ian White

Ian White put in a tremendous performance to book his place in the second round and will need another good one if he is to win again tonight. Whitlock is a formidable opponent and I'm not overjoyed to see White has been installed as favourite for this as I thought he would be the outsider again.

However I do really like White and think he has the game to beat Whitlock at the moment. Not overjoyed about the price but I still think he should be backed here.

Advised Bet:

2 points win I. White to beat S. Whitlock  at 10/11 with SportingBet

Michael Van Gerwen v Jamie Lewis

Jamie Lewis was a surprise first round winner when he beat Justin Pipe, but he would be a shock-horror second round winner if he was to get the better of Michael Van Gerwen in this one. There's any number of reasons why Van Gerwen should win, but I think the most compelling is his leg-on-leg dominance.

Van Gerwen looks like winning every leg against the throw as well as every leg on his throw. Obviously he won't win every leg but I think he will be in contention in most of them. For that reason I like him on the handicaps here.

Advised Bet:

4 points win M. Van Gerwen to beat J. Lewis -6.5 legs at 4/5 with William Hill and Betway

Adrian Lewis v Gerwyn Price

Adrian Lewis looks guaranteed a place in the quarter finals after being drawn against the very much outclassed Gerywn Price here in the second round. There's no reason to suggest Price has any chance bar a slightly workman like victory by Lewis in the first round.

I think a bet on the handicaps is worth a go in this one as I just can't see anything but a runaway Lewis victory such is the gap in class.

Advised Bet:

3 points win A. Lewis to beat G. Price -4.5 legs at 4/5 with Coral
