Rag2gar previews the final of the World Grand Prix Darts from Citywest Hotel in Dublin and his advised bet is in the highest checkout market between Michael Van Gerwen and Robert Thornton.
Van Gerwen v Thornton
So we have ourselves the dream final. Michael Van Gerwen, the original selection to win this tournament is not only in the final, but I think he'll go ahead and win it too. The Dutchman has played some great darts this week and goes into the final as a worthy favourite.
Robert Thornton has also been very solid this week, but I don't think he has the class to get the victory tonight. Van Gerwen's scoring power is going to be the difference in this one I feel and I think he'll look to try put this one to bed very early.
Both of these players have an excellent game for this final. Both are strong on doubles, both are strong on checkouts, but it's the scoring that Thornton is just slightly behind on when you compare him with Van Gerwen. What this means is that MVG is going to have shots at the double first more often than not and that should be the difference.
It's the man who's getting first pop at the doubles more often that will win the most legs and thus win the match. For those looking to have a bet on the game tonight I would not put you off having a little wager on the overs in the highest checkout market. Both of these players managed to hit a checkout that was higher than tonight's 136.5 spread in their semi finals and if anything I think they'll be more likely to hit one tonight thanks to a combination of needs must and a slightly longer format. Other than that this match is just an opportunity to let our ante post selection hopefully find his way to the finish line.
2 pts win over 136.5 checkout in the M. Van Gerwen v R. Thornton World Grand Prix final at 5/6 with Betway.
