Warwick Saturday Horse Racing Preview

Ceebee previews today's racing at Warwick and has a strong bet on Mystical Knight while he also likes Niceonefranlie to cause a shock against Taquin Du Seuil.

Warwick

1.00 2m5f Novice Hurdle

This is a two horse race and for me the market has it all wrong. Mystical Knight won two point to points in Ireland before joining Rebecca Curtis. He was then an effortless winner of a Warwick bumper here on Dec 31st. Visually it was impressive and the form worked out with the well beaten 3rd Informationisking winning next time out. It was a run that prompted a purchase by JP McManus. Getting 6lbs off Open Eagle here, Willie Mullins novice will need to be decent to beat Mystical Knight.

Granted it was in better company, but Open Eagle looked a blatant non-stayer over C&D last time out. He has an official rating of 138. Mystical Knight will have no trouble matching that in my opinion. Interestingly Mark Walsh goes over to ride with Townend and Geraghty unavailable. Mark is arguably the most underrated jockey around.

3.50 2m4f Handicap Chase

I can’t believe the front end of this market. Taquin Du Seuil surely won’t be fit and ready to target this race. Jonjo will be aiming this fella at something far bigger and better – the Festival Plate being an obvious target. Off for 338 days, returning on heavy ground and from a yard not exactly firing. Couldn’t have him as favourite.

Cogry is next in the betting. He has looked slow over 3m3f recently. Back to 2m4f – no thanks!

Dr Newland improves many horses he gets from Ireland but Band of Blood is coming from a decent yard is somewhat exposed as a handicap chaser.

Niceonefrankie is the one who appeals in a weak race. There’s no ‘good thing’ in here so 8/1 about this fella is worth taking. He has won fresh the last two seasons in a row. Ok this isn’t his seasonal reappearance but having been off for 78days he’ll be fresh. Venetia has a tremendous record with her handicap chasers when they are fresh. 2m4f on heavy will be grand, all his best runs have come at this trip and he’s won on soft (never encountered heavy). Last season he won the December Gold Cup off 142. He races off 145 today but with Charlie Deutsch taking off 5lbs he’s on a workable mark in a weak race.

Advised Bet

2 points win Niceonefrankie at 10/1 with BetVictor and Ladbrokes
