Roy The Boy previews the United States Grand Prix and believes that Nico Rosberg is the value at 9/4 to win the qualifying session and claim pole position.
Rosberg Can Repeat the Texan Pole Trick
With the action coming from the USA betting on this weekend’s Formula 1 is a whole lot easier than it has been. Qualifying, for example, starts at 7pm on Saturday. It is where there appears to be some real betting value.
So far this season Lewis Hamilton has claimed eleven pole positions. Teammate Nico Rosberg has started from the front just three times. However, there are plenty of good reasons to expect Rosberg to take his record to four.
For starters, Hamilton needs to take just a few ‘safe points’ to wrap-up the Driver’s Championship and that may see him spend more time on his race set-up as opposed to perfecting his car’s qualifying spec.
Secondly Rosberg has claimed the last two pole positions (in Japan and Russia) and he has the momentum in this sphere.
Thirdly Rosberg claimed pole position here last season and, on that occasion, his margin of superiority was a massive four-tenths of a second.
Therein Nico Rosberg has to be worthy of support at 9/4 (William Hill & Betfair) for the pole position race. Given all the facts he should surely be trading at a mark much closer to 6/4.
