The Messenger has 3 bets for the final day of the Ebor meeting at York.
York 1.50 – Mustashry
The winner of this contest twelve months ago, Mustashry can follow up again despite a light campaign to date.
For whatever reason we have seen him just the once, in a listed race at Sandown. However he looked as good as ever that day when winning with something to spare and at least he comes into today nice and fresh.
He was always handy when taking this last year and similar tactics can pay dividends again with a couple of chief rivals, Lord Glitters and Zaaki confirmed hold up horses, allowing the selection to get first run.
York 3.40 – Nakeeta
As an each-way angle is being looked at here to the favourite Stratum and Nakeeta is an alternative. He finally landed a big prize when winning this race twelve months ago and went on to run a cracker in the Melbourne Cup from a moderate draw. He has been below his best this term, but has edged down the handicap as a result, yet I get the feeling his campaign has been built around this contest once more. There was definite encouragement about his fifth behind Stratum last time and he will get the strong pace he needs at this trip.
York 4.50 – Alemaratalyoum
Alemaratalyoum looks another horse to improve for the move to Iain Jardine. As long as he gets the trip – this is his first try beyond a mile, he looks well handicapped. He produced a strong late run to win over a mile at Haydock last time, bouncing off the fast ground in the process. Now he is settling better in his races he shapes as if he can stay the extra 2f.
