Teaplanter looks at Warwick on Thursday and has two selections which are the Kim Bailey trained Abbreviate and Nick Williams trained Horatio Hornblower.
We have discussed the form of the Kim Bailey yard in our Bangor preview and the opening race on this Warwick card provides him with another chance of adding to his tally of winners.
The horse to beat is the Evan Williams trained Canicallyouback, but in receipt of 7lb Abbreviate is the selection to build on a very promising bumper debut at Huntingdon. He travelled very well throughout most of that content, but ran green in the closing stages and was worried out of it by Brave Richard. The winner has franked the form by winning his next two bumpers and Dan Skelton's Until Forever, who was 4th, has also given it a boost.
Conceding hurdling experience to the favourite will not be easy, but Abbreviate looks potentially very useful and is the call here at 5/2.

This is a competitive event and Off The Ground (heavily backed from 11/2 last night into 9/4) is certainly of interest now that he has joined Charlie Longsdon from the Emma Lavelle yard. He could well improve for leaving a yard that was very inconsistent over the past couple of seasons, but he does seem to have his own ideas about how much effort he will put in and has too much to prove as a result.
The horse we like is Horatio Hornblower. He has always promised to be an exciting horse since he ran so well on his bumper debut at Newbury in February 2012 and he has demonstrated his ability on a number of occasions, including when impressively winning a Newbury handicap hurdle off 117 in March of last year.
His novice season over fences can be described as average although he won well at Towcester and then after not handling the Cheltenham undulations, he finished the season with a solid 4th off 126 in a strong handicap at Newbury won by The Skyfarmer. He has been dropped 1lb for that effort and this decent ground should be very much in his favour. He should really be delivering on his potential now that he is rising 8 and this looks a good starting point, with 11/2 appealing as a bit of value.
