The Messenger has one bet at Cheltenham on Sunday and he likes Slate House in what looks a match in the 3:30
Cheltenham 3.30: Slate House
This race looks a match between the two market principals and of the two I prefer Slate House.
A big money purchase last winter after winning an Irish point, he finally got to make his debut for Colin Tizzard over this course and distance last month. Forced to make his own running, he was understandably a little green in front, but was very good at the business end of the race and I get the impression he will want a longer trip in time. The fact the ground is so testing today will bring his stamina into play.
His main rival Dame de Compagnie was admittedly very impressive when winning at Uttoxeter a couple of weeks ago. However the going was good that day and he was ridden with exaggerated waiting tactics in her native France. It is interesting that a first time hood is applied today, suggesting connections are worried about her ability to settle, especially on such deep going and for that reason Slate House might be allowed to build a winning lead coming down the hill.
1.5 points win Slate House at 15/8 with Betbright and Boylesports
