The Messenger previews Newmarket on Friday and he likes Sir John Lavery for Aidan O'Brien.
Newmarket 3.35: Sir John Lavery
An interesting contest in which potentially the two classiest horses in the field, Mustashry and Zonderland could be hampered by unsuitably slow ground. As a result Sir John Lavery looks best placed to take advantage.
The 3yo was a very impressive 7l winner of a maiden last season at Gowran Park last season on very soft going. He was then marked down as one of the Aidan O’Brien posse for the Derby races, only to flop in two races at around 12f.
However recent evidence suggests he is a miler pure and simple. He took advantage of soft going to win a listed race at Cork with some ease and then got no luck in running in a Group 2 at Leopardstown on Champions Weekend. With some further rain expected tomorrow conditions will be in his favour.
1.5 points win Sir John Lavery at 7/2 with William Hill
