Rag2gar has had a brilliant Premier League tipping campaign and he rounds off his previews with a few bets on Dave Chisnall at the O2 on finals night. He already has 5/2 Michael Van Gerwen so is in a strong position.
So we have finally reached the semi finals and final of this year's Premier League darts and the all-important business end of the tournament. An unlikely run out saw rank outsider Raymond Van Barneveld lift the Premier League trophy last year and it would certainly be another surprise if he was to win it again this year.
I think the best players during the league phase will hold form and get their rewards tonight. Dave Chisnall has been a revelation this season. He had a great chance to finish top of the league last week, but a perilously close draw against MVG meant the Dutchman topped the table.
Van Gerwen has had a tremendous year since his World Championship defeat and is without doubt the best player in darts at this moment in time. However, I can't see why Chisnall is as big as 6/1 to win the competition tonight. He clearly has the game to beat Van Gerwen; we saw that last week. That form is the best form we have going into tonight's playoffs. I think the Premier League is going to be won by one of those two men - Van Gerwen or Chisnall.
I've seen nothing to suggest why it should be Anderson or Van Barneveld. It's still a short-format run-out so anything can happen but at 6/1 Chisnall represents great value to validate his impressive league form this season by winning the competition tonight. We already have Van Gerwen on side at 5/2. so we will make a tidy profit on the outright bets if either player wins the event - Read original outright preview HERE
2 pts win D. Chisnall to win the Premier League darts (6/1 Boylesports).
Chisnall v Anderson It has been one hell of a campaign for Dave Chisnall this year and I must admit I was surprised to see he was as big as 29/20 to win the first semi-final tonight. He has been playing great darts this season while Anderson, although playing well in spurts, has by and large coasted to the semi-finals. I think Chisnall is a decent bet on form to overturn Anderson in this one. He played superbly well against MVG last week and I would not be surprised if he got the win here to set up a repeat fixture to decide this year's title. Maybe Anderson will produce his A-game for tonight's finals but we can only go on the form we have and that form suggests Chisnall will get the win here. Advised Bet: 2 pts win D. Chisnall to beat G. Anderson (29/20 Boylesports).
Van Gerwen v Van Barneveld
The second semi final of the night sees tournament favourite Michael Van Gerwen take to the stage to take on fellow Dutchman and defending champion Raymond Van Barneveld for a place in this year's final. Having topped this year's table it's no surprise that Van Gerwen goes into this contest as the resounding favourite. He has played excellent darts all tournament and looked borderline unstoppable during the first half of the season.
Raymond Van Barneveld has done well himself in his pursuit to defend his Premier League title and will likely give MVG a good contest here. However I just can't see past Van Gerwen at the minute, his standard of darts leg on leg is just too high. Having said that I think the 1/3 is short enough and represents his chances correctly so no bet for me here.
