Rag2gar previews Week 7 of the Premier League Darts with bets advised on Phil Taylor, a draw with Van Barneveld & Chisnall and a Gary Anderson double.
Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis
The opening game is the first of two matches for Gary Anderson this week and the Scotsman will no doubt be looking to get all four points in front of his home crowd in Glasgow. I see no reason why he can't too as he's been playing well the last few weeks in the Premier League. Lewis was poor against Taylor a fortnight ago but then played well against Wright last week. I think Anderson has the better of Lewis at the minute, no more emphasised in the Scot's world championship final win over Lewis earlier this year.
James Wade v Robert Thornton
James Wade should be quite happy with his Premier League so far having won four of his opening seven games. That is a fair performance as this is a very tough league this year with hundred plus averages very much the norm. Robert Thornton however is still without a win and is most certainly looking like he's going to be relegated. Thornton has been out of form for at least six months in truth and it's not just the Premier League he's been struggling in. I expect Wade to get the win here but I am disappointed he's only 8/13. You would hope he would be closer to even money considering the possibility of a draw so at the prices unfortunately I can't have a bet here.
Michael Van Gerwen v Phil Taylor
This is a real glamour tie and it's got to be noted that the last few times these two have met on TV it's been Phil Taylor who has started the better of the two. This is a short format and if Taylor can start quick again I think he's a huge price at the odds available. Yes Van Gerwen is the best in the world but this is only 14 legs. 14 legs is nothing. That's why we've seen so many whitewashes. If one player starts slowly, these games can be over very quickly. Take a chance on Taylor getting the better of MVG early on once again but holding out this time thanks to the short format.
3 pts win Taylor to beat M. Van Gerwen at 10/3 with Bet Victor
Raymond Van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall
It's usually around this time of year that Van Barneveld gets going and stakes his claims for the playoffs. This is an important match for both players. Both are going through a dip In form and both have genuine playoff claims they need to address. I find this very difficult to call but have a slight preference for Chisnall. I think he's the better of the two players but I am worried about his confidence following a few untimely losses of late. There hasn't been many draws this year but I think this could be a contender for the third 6-6 of the season.
1 pt win R. Van Barneveld V D. Chisnall to be a draw at 4/1 with Boylesports.
Gary Anderson v Peter Wright
The second of two Gary Anderson matches and I think this will be the tougher of the two. Wright is a hardy competitor who can average high but I think Anderson is a class apart. When Anderson is at his free flowing best he can fill up that treble twenty bed almost effortlessly and I'm expecting that kind of performance here. Any blips from Wright in his scoring are bound to be punished and I think this will be the second Anderson win of the night.
2 pts win double G. Anderson to beat A. Lewis & G. Anderson to beat P. Wright at 11/4 with Boylesports
