Rag2gar previews week 7 of the NFL with bets advised on Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and overs in the total points market for Dallas and New York.
NFL week seven
Week seven of the NFL season kicks off with the hapless Seattle Seahawks travelling to Levi's Stadium in San Francisco tonight to take on the mediocre at best 49ers. Despite being this year's Super Bowl favourites, the Seattle Seahawks have had a torrid start to the season. Four defeats in six games is difficult to defend, but for the most part the Seahawks have been fairly luckless.
Expect them to give everything from the first whistle in this one as they look to shut the 49ers down with watertight defence. Seattle are now really in need of wins to makes the post-season and will badly want one here in what is an important divisional contest. I cannot see how they can lose if they give it their all because they are such a better team that the 49ers. What's more I fully expect them to give it their all too as they simply have to win this one. For me Seattle are the bet of week and I for one cannot see them losing.
The biggest game of the week takes place on Sunday when the New York Jets make the short trip to Gillette Stadium to take on the 6 and 0 New England Patriots in what should be a highly entertaining game. This is a classic offence versus defence battle with the added spice of divisional and local rivalry all to play for. I would be shocked if the Jets don't make a game of this one and love them on the nine-point handicap. With only one defeat so far this season, the Jets are one of the toughest teams to crack in the league. The obvious counter-argument is that the Patriots have unquestionably the best offence in the AFC, but I'm not sure they'll dominate this one. Expect a tight contest with no quarters given and the Jets to at least cover the handicap.
The other big Sunday night game sees two of the biggest franchises in the NFL take to the field as the Romo-less Dallas Cowboys take on the presence-of-mind-less New York Giants in a must-win game for both. Expect fireworks in this one. Both of these teams are going to be mightily frustrated with their form of late and will have to go on the attack here. The way the Giants disappointed on Monday night there just has to be a bounce-factor this time around. As for the Cowboys, Jason Garrett has finally given Matt Cassel his opportunity at quarterback and all the latest stand-in has to do to be an improvement is be aggressive. That's what the fans want and that's everything Brandon Weeden wasn't. That's why he was sacked. Of course aggression means only two things. Scores or mistakes. And either of those mean points. Look for the scoreboard to mount up in this one.
As for the rest of the week seven card it's hard to like too much else. I think the Bills will beat the Jags in Wembley, but their price is plenty short enough. Colts should also book a win but again the price is a little restrictive. I certainly won't be having any bets other than the ones advised.
