Rag2gar previews Week 6 of the NFL American Football season and he has bets in the Thursday game on New Orleans against Atlanta and also like then Bills, Texans and Giants.
Thursday night football this week sees the most surprising undefeated team in football, the Atlanta Falcons travel to the Superdome in New Orleans as they attempt to book an amazing 6 and 0 start to their season. The Saints on the other hand are starting to look a little panicked with only one win so far this term (against a Brandon Weeden led Cowboys). It may still be early in the season, but this is already a must-win game for the Saints; but that's not the only reason I like them here. For me this is a classic case of the Saints not being as bad as their record suggests and the Falcons not being as strong as their record suggests. Add in the home field advantage and I think the Saints are a nice bet here at 17/10.
Another 5 and 0 team that has been fortunate this season is the Cincinnati Bengals. Needing 17 unanswered points in the forth quarter just to tie the game, the Cincinnati Bengals kicked a game-winning field goal in over time to beat the Seattle Seahawks last week. Of course the Bengals have to be given a lot of credit for that. However, should they be even one touchdown behind going into the last quarter this week it could spell the end of their unbeaten run? The Bills are one of the best running teams in the league and as a result will run down the clock at will. Expect them to make a good game of this one especially if they're leading going into the forth quarter.
The Houston Texans were unlucky to lose late on last week against the Indianapolis Colts. This Sunday they face a much less talented offence when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bill O'Brien is an up-and-coming coach who deserves more than the 1 and 4 record that he has so far this season. Expect him and the Texans to get their season back on track and find a win against the lacklustre Jaguars here.
The last bet of the week is going to be the New York Giants to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. It was only a few short weeks ago that the Eagles were downright awful against the Cowboys and such a wicked performance is hard to forget. Since then the Eagles have improved and looked particularly good last week against the Saints, but NFC East match-ups are notoriously hard-fought affairs. The Giants will be bouncing following their last minute win on Monday night and go into this with everything to play for as they seek to take control of the NFC East. Manning who had a career-beat completion rate on Monday night is a confidence player and will benefit enormously from that game. The Giants should be too good for Philadelphia here and they are my bet of the week.
