Roy The Boy looks at the Brit Awards which take place on Wednesday night and he thinks that Sam Smith is the clear value in Best British Male category.
Sam The Man in Brit Awards Best Male Category
Unibet have over-stepped the mark with a 5/2 offering about Sam Smith collecting the Best British Male Award at Wednesday's Brit Awards.
Just three weeks ago the 22-year-old English singer/song writer was favourite to win three of the main awards at the Grammy’s: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. He duly obliged, scooping all three - in fact he won four from the six categories he was nominated in on the night.
Tonight Ed Sheeran heads the betting for the Best British Male award, trading at odds of 1/2 with Stan James. He also rates a 2/5 shot to collect the Best British Album Award for ‘X’; Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ is second best at 5/2.
In the 19 years since Oasis and Blur faced off in a similar fashion the history books have shown that the 1,000 strong Brit Award Voting Academy has a canny knack of sharing things around and on that simple basis I don’t see Ed Sheeran scooping both awards.
There’s naturally a lot more to it than that, primarily Sam Smith outselling Sheeran in the USA and proving such a strong British ambassador in that musical hotbed.
When all the sums are made the simple fact remains, Unibet have overpriced Sam Smith in the Best British Male category (rival firms are going 2/1 best) and he is a definite value bet proposition.
