Roy The Boy looks at the Grand Slam of Darts and he likes Glen Durant on the Handicap against Raymond Van Barneveld on Thursday night.
BDO Star can push RVB in Thursday’s face-off
Glen Durant is a little-known darting name, but that’s purely because he is on the BDO tour instead of the higher profile PDC version. Durrant landed two ‘majors’ in 2015 and has won seven tournaments on the BDO tour during 2016. He is now the No. 1 ranked player in that division.
In short, he is no mug and has proven that during the group stages of the Grand Slam – taking Gary Anderson to a 5-4 score-line and winning his next two games 5-1 (against Alan Norris) and 5-0 (vs Nathan Derry).
On Thursday night, before the SKY TV cameras, he faces a rejuvenated Raymond van Barneveld who is three-from-three in this competition and has been posting 100+ 3-dart averages.
Nevertheless that form only lengthens the price of our selection and we expect Durrant to put up some real resistance against the Dutchman. And, at even-money in a handicap market whereby be receives a +1.5 leg start, we think he’s worth a bet.
