The Messenger had an 8/1 winner at Goodwood on Tuesday and he has 4 bets for Wednesday at both Goodwood and in the Galway Plate.
Goodwood 1.50: Kloud Gate
Kloud Gate showed only modest form over hurdles, for which he was primarily bought over the winter. However he looks much more naturally suited to flat racing and is building up a decent profile in the top staying handicaps. A solid seventh in the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting, he loomed up there 3f out with a big chance at Newbury last time. Whilst he stayed on well enough into second, he was never going the pace of easy winner Stratum. However he looks worth trying back at this extreme trip and jockey Ryan Moore takes a rare mount for his father Gary.
Goodwood 2.25: Corgi
Corgi’s chance is obvious here, having come so close in the equivalent race at Royal Ascot. That was only his second run in a handicap having previously won over 10f at Sandown. He should know more today and looks sure to have more to offer at this 12f trip.
Goodwood 5.55: Manton Grange
Manton Grange looks of interest, particularly with a first-time tongue strap. He seems to be a 7f specialist – both career wins have been at the trip and in double figure fields where the pace has been true. He does seem to enjoy having his races spaced out and has been given two months since an eyecatching run at Doncaster where he was not knocked about at all. This may have been the target race for some time.
Galway 7.20: Slowmotion
Slowmotion was third in this last year and is the choice of Barry Geraghty getting down to his minimum weight being a tip in itself. The mare had a nice warm up for this over hurdles at Tipperary and the return to a sounder surface will be on benefit. The fitting of first time blinkers might also have a positive effect.
