Tommy Mc previews Tuesday's football fixtures in the Skybet Championship and he has advised bets on Brentford, Leeds, Norwich and Wigan.
Brentford v Blackpool
Brentford got back to winning ways last Saturday when they beat promotion rivals Bournemouth 3-1 at Griffin Park. This was a very important result for the Bee's as they had lost their previous two games which has left them out of the top six.
Blackpool picked up a decent point on the road last Saturday when they drew 1-1 with Blackburn at Ewood Park. Despite this result the Tangerines are still rooted to the foot of the table with relegation looking certain now as they are 12 points from safety.
Blackpool's dismal season just keeps trundling along and although they have drawn their last two games, their record speaks for itself with just four wins all season and a goal difference of -33. All of their four wins have come at Bloomfield Road so I don't expect them to take anything away from Griffin Park tonight.
Brentford had lost a bit of ground on the leading pack in recent weeks with back to back defeats against Watford and Charlton, however like all good sides they bounced back on Saturday against third placed Bournemouth and are back in the promotion hunt.
The Bee's have been very solid at home all season and have no problem finding the net especially against sides with as poor a defence as Blackpool have and also they put three past one of the meanest defences in the league last Saturday which is one of the reasons why I fancy them to win by a couple of goals tonight.
Blackburn v Norwich
Norwich came away with a very impressive three points last Saturday when they beat Watford 3-0 at Vicarage Road. The Canaries five game unbeaten run has lifted them from mid-table to within six points of leaders Derby.
Blackburn drew 1-1 with bottom of the table Blackpool at Ewood Park last Saturday. Rover's have only won one of their last four games and their play-off hopes are starting to look unlikely as they are now 12 points behind 6th placed Watford.
Rover's have been on a poor run since the start of the year as they have only taken 9 points from the possible 24 available which has cost them in the promotion race and I think the distraction of their FA Cup run, which they are now in the quarter finals of is probably the main reason. Norwich on the other hand have been on fire taking 19 points from the possible 24 available to them and are now one of seven sides who are fighting it out for automatic promotion.
Norwich have one of the best squads in the Championship and it took new manager Alex Neil, who took over from Neil Adams at the start of January to get them playing to their potential. He has won six of his eight matches in charge and has the Canaries playing with no fear and a lot of confidence. I fancy Norwich to make it two away wins in a row tonight.
Brighton v Leeds
Leeds made it three wins on the bounce last Saturday when they beat then table topper's Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside in the early kick off. Leeds recent good run has pulled them away from the drop zone and into mid-table safety.
Brighton were involved in a seven goal thriller last Saturday when they beat Birmingham 4-3 at the Amex Stadium. This was a crucial three points for Albion as it has given them a three point cushion over third bottom Millwall.
Brighton are unbeaten now in three games as they are fighting to stay in the league however after a promising season last term they find themselves in a relegation scrap this time around as they have only managed seven wins so far this campaign and I think they will find it tough against a resurgent Leeds side tonight.
Leeds have been on a fine run in recent times as they have won four out of their last five games, keeping clean sheets in their last three games and also winning their last three games away from home. I fancy them to beat Brighton tonight, however the last few times I have tipped them they didn't deliver so I am going to be cautious and recommend the draw-no-bet option which is still good value.
Wigan v Cardiff
Wigan failed to build on their win against Reading the previous week when they lost 3-0 to Charlton at the DW Stadium last Friday night. Athletic are in serious trouble with games running out as they are nine points from safety.
Cardiff recorded their fourth draw in a row last Saturday when their game with Huddersfield finished 0-0 at the John Smith's Stadium. The Bluebirds have given themselves a bit of breathing space as they are now seven points clear of the drop zone.
Cardiff have stopped the rot a little in recent weeks as they are unbeaten in February however they have only scored two goals in these four games and they can't seem to pick up that win against these teams who are in and around them which might come back to haunt them. Wigan are in desperate need of a win and fast if they are to have any chance of staying up with time running out.
They were possibly a little unlucky to come up against a Charlton side last Friday night who would've been buoyed by their win over Brentford the previous week however they need to start winning their home games and take whatever they can get on the road. I know this could be a risky call however this is a game which is very winnable and could give them the injection they need to go on a run and give themselves a fighting chance.
