The Messenger had another 8/1 winner on Monday and he likes Edward Lewis at Beverley on Tuesday.
Beverley 3.50: Edward Lewis
A winner here on his debut for David O’Meara, Edward Lewis has not always enjoyed the best of luck in recent runs, but can gain due compensation today.
He acts well on a stiff 5f, so this uphill straight is perfect for him and he is versatile regarding going conditions. It was fast ground when he won here in April, but it was quite the opposite when he was a fine second on the opening day of the Ebor meeting over 5 ½f at York, shortly after a deluge.
He has received some pretty tough draws, such as when fancied for one of the most valuable 5f handicaps of the season at Ascot and when unplaced in the Stewards Cup. Of his main market rivals, Ornate is not in the form from earlier in the year, whilst Alpha Delphini has not convinced on soft going in the past.
