World Darts Final Preview

Rag2gar has both his outright bets in the final of the PDC World Championship, so is sure of a great result, but he believes that the value lies with Gary Anderson in the final.

Taylor v Anderson

So we got ourselves the dream final. Both of our outright selections have made it and will now battle it out for this year's World Championship later on tonight. 16-times champ Phil Taylor will go off favourite for the final after a much more convincing display saw him ease to victory over his old rival Raymond Van Barneveld 6-2 in the semi finals. What was more impressive I feel though was the manner in which Gary Anderson booked his place in the final beating defending World Champion Michael Van Gerwen 6-3. Anderson's scoring and finishing was excellent once again particularly his darts at double tops.

Make no mistake about it Anderson has a great chance of winning tonight. When you take the line of form from the semis and combine it with the 10-6 victory Anderson achieved in the Player's Championship last time these two met, he has to have a strong chance. At this point many of Anderson's detractors will point to his performance last time he reached the PDC World Championship final, back in 2011 against Adrian Lewis. I guess this had to be brought into the equation especially when you consider the experience of his opponent this time around who is nothing short of an 83-time major winner.

What I think most people can agree on though is that this final is going to be close. Anderson is simply playing far too well for any sort of Taylor domination tonight and I wouldn't be surprised if this one ended up going to a deciding set.

This leads me to our two bets for tonight. Gary Anderson is playing better darts at the moment than Phil Taylor and I think he will beat him in this year's final (27/20 Boylesports). Having said that I do also think this match will have a lot of sets either way and the over 10.5 sets looks a very safe bet with Paddy Power albeit at a restrictive price of 4/7.
