There’s just the one night of Premier League Darts this week and with eight players still in contention, we are down to four games a night. In a break from tradition these four matches are set to be best of 14-leg affairs (formerly best of 12) which obviously lessens the prospect of drawn games and drawn stats such as 180’s.
James Wade has the clear beatings of Mensur Suljovic on stats but stats don’t win games. The good news … they stand up a lot better in ‘stats races’ and with Wade boasting 31 180’s and Suljovic just 22 (in the league so far) the logical bet is taking some of William Hill’s 6/5 about Wade scoring most ‘maximums’ on Thursday.
The second game to ‘play’ is the Rob Cross vs Daryl Gurney confrontation. Gurney’s double percentages have been poor but he is fourth in the league standings, two places and just two points below the 2018 World Champion. Cross did beat Gurney 7-1 when they met in the Premier League at the end of February but it was Gurney that prevailed 6-2 when they met in the German Darts Championship this past Saturday. As the Northern Irishman went on to win that tournament, and he is going to be playing before a fanatical band of home supporters, he’s over-priced to win on Thursday.
James Wade to score most 180’s against Mensur Suljovic @ 6/5 generally
Daryl Gurney to beat Rob Cross @ 2/1 generally
