Roy The Boy previews the Chinese Grand Prix and he is backing Sebastian Vettel and Stoffel Vandoorne to finish in the points among his 4 picks.
Keeping it simple in the Chinese Grand Prix
Let’s keep this week’s F1 betting simple...
We are in China for the fifteenth time and so far the pole setter has won here nine times. There was no sign of the much touted Mercedes ‘party mode’, which is supposed to give their drivers a massive advantage in qualifying, last time in Bahrain and with this circuit similar in regards to its demands on cars, it might not work (if it even exists) again this week.
So this could be a simple: Vettel on pole (again), Vettel wins (again). I like this scenario at Coral’s 9/4. In fact I’ll collect at those odds even if he doesn’t start on pole and only wins the race. Pole would simply give us some bet-to-lay ability.
Three from 13 yet 13/10
The stats on the use of a Safety Car are identical. Nine times it has stayed in the garage, five times it has been used. But it was needed last year as part of a ‘wet race’ and in 2015 it was called to action just two laps from the end of the race due to a car being parked/stranded on the side of the circuit.
If that were to happen this year, the stewards would call for a ‘virtual safety car’ which does not count for betting purposes. Therein you can adjust those figures to read three-from-13 and on those kind of stats you cannot possibly believe it is 13/10 to NOT be used on Sunday. But it is and it is a good bet.
Other bets to consider
13 times last year one or both Red Bull cars failed to see the chequered flag and neither made it past the third lap a week ago (transmission and electronic failures were to blame).
You can get 13/8 with Bet365 about both cars NOT finishing in the points and given Ricciardo has DNF’d in four of his last six races (all of these were down to mechanical failure) this looks an attractive proposition.
Elsewhere Boylesports were way out of line with their 15/8 about Stoffel Vandoorne finishing in the points for a third successive start. No other firm were going greater than even-money (as short as 8/13 with Bet365) so the price never lasted but the 6/5 with Sportingbet is still worth an interest.
