Roy The Boy takes a look at the market for Celebrity Big Brother 17 and for once he thinks the Geordie Shore angle is not going to pay dividends.

Celebrity Big Brother 17 is underway and so far everyone seems to like each other. It cannot and will not last!
Scott Timlin is currently trading as the favourite, top-priced 7/2 at Betfred, He was as short as 2/1 when his participation was announced. Despite his association with the MTV show Geordie Shore which is a proven source of winners in these types of shows, his price is too short in a 16-runner field.
Timlin’s Achilles heel is surely his brash and boastful attitude which, historically, has not worked well in this show. The public have repeatedly showed their like for funny and amusing characters – such as comedians Jack Dee, Julian Clary and Jim Davidson and Charlotte Crosby.
They also like people prone to emotional outbursts and breakdowns, Denise Welch being a case in point.
Other key factors include:
Inelegance – it doesn’t work well as borne out by Katie Hopkin’s remarkable defeat in January 2015.
Americans – they fare desperately in this show with just a single winner from 39 previous contestants.
Colour – there has only been one non-white winner, Shilpa Shetty, in 2007.
Attention seekers – this is a type of contestant which always gets plenty of airtime in the early weeks of the show but never produces a winner.

When browsing through the current prices and throwing the facts into a blender, former East Enders John Partridge and Daniella Westbrook catch the eye.
Westbrook has a list of well-publicised issues and only her alter ego believes she will not have a breakdown within the CBB house at some point. Sad as it sounds, that’s a vote winner.
Christopher Maloney certainly looks over-priced at Ladbrokes 50/1. He may be little-known, but that was no hindrance to previous winners Paddy ‘the gypsy’ Doherty, Alex ‘Jordan’s boyfriend’ Reid, Chantelle ‘pretend celeb’ Houghton and James ‘Apprentice reject’ Hill.
Furthermore Maloney is a gay man, as was previous winners Julian Clary and Rylan Clark. The later named winner made his name in the same 2012 X-Factor series as Maloney (who finished third).
