Roy The Boy Blog with his unique view on the Grand National, Premier League Darts and the Royal Wedding.
The Grand Rip Off is almost upon us
It is Grand National week, which means it’s a great time to catch the books with their pants around their ankles. On Saturday Rule No. 1 is to attempt to log into as many of your online bookmaking accounts as possible at around 4.45pm. Not to have a bet, but just for the sheer hell of it.
You see, historically, a number of online sportsbooks have crashed in the hour before the start of the Grand National and the good ones have sent their clients an apologetic email 48 hours later stating they are “sorry for your frustration [of not being able to log into your account] and we are compensating you by placing a free £/€10 bet in your account.”
Hey, it’s a cost free chance to net some winnings out of a race which will have an impossible piss-take of an over-round – in excess of 150 percent. That’s right, there will be £50 profit for every £150 gambled, yet people with an IQ that doesn’t reach double figures will be jamming the internet and queuing around the block of their local betting shops to hand their cash over.
On an altogether different note, haven’t the PR guru’s at Guinness dropped the ball by not doing a sponsorship deal with last year’s National winner, One For Arthur, and parading him around all the boozers within a 100 mile radius of Liverpool this past week? Let’s be frank, giving away a few million pints on ‘Arthurs Day’ must cost ‘em a pretty penny, they would surely get this nag for an absolute song in comparison.
Go under 121.5 on RVB/Gurney max checkout
Betvictor and Boylesports have followed each other in Thursday’s darts market on the highest checkout in the Raymond van Barneveld vs Daryl Gurney match. They are going 5/6 about the highest checkout being under 121.5. It is a steal; these players have played 18 Premier League Games between them this year and only on one occasion, one single leg, has one of them checked-out higher than 121.5. It is no certainty but on stats you could argue this is a 1/12 poke!
Seeing Pink on Royal Invite
The Royal Wedding is drawing closer and Paddy Power have shortened up the price on SKY F1’s European presenter, Natalie Pinkham, being a guest at the ceremony, she is now even-money. It’s still a shoe-in.
There was never any proof the pair were ‘jicky’ when they supposedly dated 12 years ago and, more importantly, she is in the close royal circle. At her own wedding Zara Phillips and Princess Eugenie, plus a pile of Price Harry’s rugby pals, were in attendance. And with ‘Pinks’ kids playing with the Royal babies, not to mention May 19th not being an F1 weekend, evens is enormous.

Natalie Pinkham to be at the Royal Wedding ceremony at 1/1 with Paddy Power
