Strictly Second to The Bodyguard

Roy The Boy looks at two TV Specials' markets of interest.

Joe Sugg the Mover & Groover in Strictly Market

YouTuber Joe Sugg is the big market mover in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and he is closing in on favourite Stacey Dooley after an impressive weekend performance.

Joe scored 32 for his samba to Hanson’s 1990s hit ‘MMMbop’ and saw his odds on winning the competition cut into 5/2 from 4/1 by PaddyPower, closing the gap on market leader Stacey Dooley who is top-priced 6/4 at BoyleSports.  Joe Sugg is now a red hot 1/7 (BetVictor) to be the best placed male come the final standings after Danny John-Jules was sent packing at the weekend.

Former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts was Saturday’s top-scorer with 39 judges points but that hasn’t been enough to sway punters in her favour and she has actually drifted out to 7/1 (at Bet365) from 6/1 to get her hands on the Glitterball Trophy.

Faye Tozer also booked her spot for this weekend’s highly anticipated visit to Blackpool’s famous Tower Ballroom but she too has eased in the betting (out to 9/2 from 3/1) despite outscoring all but one of her fellow celebs with her jive.

Bodyguard Betting

Strictly Come Dancing is drawing in around nine million viewers per episode which is impressive but dwarfed by the 17.1 million that watched the finale of the BBC series Bodyguard.  That success has seen Betway open a market on the when, and if, second series will be aired.

2019 is their 1/2 favourite which looks a short price given the Bodyguard star - Richard Madden who plays David Budd – is currently filming another show (Rocketman) and writer Jed Mercurio is reportedly busy on his other hit, Line of Duty, until the turn of the year at the very last.  Therefore we like the 15/8 on offer about 2020. 2021 or later is 6/1 incidentally and no second series of the Bodyguard is 10/1 at Betway.
