Jimmy McGinty had a storming Week 13 when he landed all 5 of his bets and he likes the Seahawks, Titans, Cowboys and Jets among others.
Week 13 recap
13 – Lucky for some they say. Well whether it was luck or not we aren’t complaining after five winning tips, from five selections, last weekend resulting in profits of 33.5pts. Included in the five selections were bets against the Giants and Panthers – a route we are taking again this week. The Thursday night game tips produced a small profit also. Four weeks left to build on it further.
Week 14 best bets
Well after last weekend’s successful fivefold what else could I try this weekend bar six selections!
Against the Spread I like: Seattle, Titans, Chargers, Texans, Jets and Cowboys. Here’s why:
San Diego Chargers at Carolina Panthers
Betting on two teams without much hope of a playoff spot can be risky these weeks. It’s hard to know who may have an eye on a new contract or a better draft spot for next year. But saying that the matchup here is too appealing to ignore. It’s a great game for the Chargers.
The Chargers at 5-7 are statistically only 1 game better than the 4-8 Panthers but there’s loads between these sides. Firstly the Chargers let two big leads slip early in the season and all 7 loses came by a margin of just one score. They’re also in arguably the strongest division alongside 3 playoff bound sides. With a sprinkle more luck, 8-4 and in the playoff hunt would be very realistic for this Chargers roster.
The current Panthers side would be fortunate to win 4 games. Missing center Ryan Khalil and star linebacker Luke Kuechly are massive losses.
What makes this matchup a dream for the Chargers is they can exploit those positions. The Chargers have a tremendous Joey Bosa led pass rush and utilise their running game (Melvin Gordon) and tight-ends (both Gates and Henry) regularly and successfully. Just like Seattle did last week when hammering the Panthers.
The Panthers have home advantage and will want to bounce back after last week’s terrible showing but for me the Chargers are a much better team. Getting points they are well worth a bet.
3pts San Diego Chargers +1.5pts at 10/11 with Betfred and Coral
Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are probably a shade overrated after their Monday night thrashing of the Jets. The Jets were very flat after their Patriots clash the week before. A Pats hangover - it was always possible and they promptly gave up and got destroyed by Andrew Luck’s arm. It was a dream matchup for the Colts as they didn’t need to run the ball or defend much, just let Andrew Luck could pick apart a miserable secondary.
The Texans however have a much better secondary. They’ll make it harder for Luck. Having missed last week, Jadeveon Clowney is expected to be fit as well so protecting Luck will once again be a struggle for the Colts.
Backing the Osweiler led Texans is a risky game plan but at +6.5pts they are simply getting too many points this week. They lead the Colts in the AFC South remember.
1pt Houston Texans +6.5pts at 20/21 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers
I’m not giving the Packers much credit for beating the Texans last week. Jadeveon Clowney missed the game and Lamar Miller got hurt. Two key men for the Texans. Prior to that the Packers beat the Eagles who are in freefall (1 win in 6) and before all that the Packers lost 4 in a row. The past two results are masking a serious amount of short comings in Green Bay. With Russell Wilson fully fit again Seattle are playing great football at the moment and will dominate this game.
Aaron Rodgers dodgy hamstring and the Packers non-existent running game means he’ll be throwing against the league’s best secondary all night. It won’t end well.
1pt Seattle Seahawks -3pts at 1/1 with Coral and Skybet
New York Jets at SF 49ers
The Jets were a disgrace last weekend. I’m expecting a bounce back performance. And what an easy opportunity to do it because the 49ers are amazingly worse than the Jets.
I’m kind of willing to write-off the Jets miserable showing as a Patriots hangover. That was their Super Bowl and they lost narrowly. With no playoff potential it wasn’t a major surprise they came out flat 8 days later. It was also a dream matchup for the Colts as Andrew Luck could pick apart the Jets secondary.
That’s not the case this week. The 49ers haven’t got the ability at QB (regardless of who starts there) or receiver to do much damage. They are a run first team and the Jets stop the run better than most. The Jets are also decent enough running themselves – something they couldn’t get going last week due to being so far behind early. It’s also something which the 49ers can’t stop!
This is a perfect spot for the Jets, led by Matt Forte, to restore some pride. Getting a field goal head-start against such a bad SF side is a bet every day of the week!
3pts NY Jets +3pts – 10/11 with Coral and Betfred
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
We were against the Giants last week because they were extremely fortunate to have an 8-3 record. They had beaten a collection of awful teams this season (Rams, Eagles, Bears, Browns). They faced a strong offense in Pittsburgh and promptly got thrashed. The Giants were fortunate to even score themselves.
This week it’s another high powered offense, The Cowboys. They struggled themselves last week but that was against a determined Vikings defense. Now they’ve had an extra few days to prepare I expect a dominant Cowboys display. There’s no way the Giants offense will be able to keep tabs on them.
2pts Dallas Cowboys -3.5pts at 10/11 with Betfred and Skybet
Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans
The Broncos only won last week due to Blake Bortles awful quarterbacking of the Jaguars. 2 interceptions and a lost fumble he conceded in a game that finished 20-10. Regardless of who starts at QB for the Broncos they are not a very good side and here is a matchup that can exploit them.
The Jags had no running game, the Titans most certainly do. Because the Titans are such a powerful running team they won’t need to beat the Broncos elite secondary of Talib and Harris.
The Titans defend the run fairly well so whoever does start at QB for the Broncos will have to air it out a bit, that could spell disaster. Titans tight-end Delanie Walker could have a big day as the Broncos have a big loss, missing Brandon Marshall at line-backer.
2pts Tennessee Titans -1pt at 10/11 with SkyBet
1pt Sixfold: Titans -1, Cowboys -3.5, Seahawks -3, Jets +3, Texans +6.5 and Chargers +1.5pts.
