Rag2gar looks at the final week of the NFL regular season and he has bets on the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins and Adrian Peterson to score a touchdown at any stage against Green Bay Packers.
NFL week 17 (Final week)
The final week of the NFL season is upon us and a full card of games this evening will decide and complete this year's playoff picture. For many teams this will be like a "last day of school" with nothing to play for so prudence is key with most of these matches.
Without question the biggest game of the week is the evening game to decide the NFC North and who will get home field advantage in the postseason between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. For Minnesota, this game will probably be decided on the performance of Adrian Peterson. If the Packers can limit his yards, I think they will win this game quite comfortably. If they don't this could be a shootout to the end. The match betting looks to be priced correctly, but one bet I do like is Adrian Peterson to get a touchdown anytime at 4/6 with William Hill. He has more yards against the Packers than any other team in his career and will be the focal point to the Minnesota offence tonight. I expect him to get at least one touchdown at some stage as he will undoubtedly get a few shots at the end-zone throughout the night.
The only other division up for grabs as it stands is the AFC West as the Denver Broncos look to finally secure the division when they take on the San Diego Chargers tonight. You can be sure the Broncos will be absolutely revved up from the get-go, as they look to book a first round bye for the playoffs. They can even secure the number one spot with a New England loss! I expect the Broncos to get ahead early here and keep ploughing until the Chargers drop tools and call it a season. After that the Broncos could finish any amount of points ahead come the final scoreline. Broncos -9.5 for me.
So with the Patriots also needing to win, they too look like a banker if ever there was one when they travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Or are they? The Dolphins may have nothing to play for but pride, but the big difference with this game and the Chargers/Broncos game is that the Dolphins are at home. There's no way they can drop tools in front of their home fans on the last day of the season especially against an enemy as big as the Patriots. With so many important New England players either out or questionable, they too won't want to take too many unnecessary roster risks just before the playoffs. New England should win, but expect them to be tested along the way and shut up shop once the game looks safe. Either way the Dolphins look the play on the handicap.
Other than that this looks like a card to avoid with many of the games having no more significance than that of a pre-season fixture.
