Roy The Boy previews the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday and he thinks Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is a huge price to post the fastest lap in the race.
Feast on Ricciardo’s Nonsensical 22/1 Fastest Lap
The early 33/1 has gone but the 22/1 about Daniel Ricciardo claiming the fastest lap in Sunday’s F1 race from Abu Dhabi is still a very big price and one that should surely be single figures.
In addition to setting the fastest lap in this race last year the Australian driver has claimed three fastest laps this season. It’s a very good stat considering there have been 18 races. Only Hamilton and Rosberg in their might Mercedes have claimed more.
A closer look at the results show all three of Ricciardo’s fastest laps have been claimed at ‘high downforce’ circuits: Hungary, Singapore, Monaco. These are three of a band of just five ‘high downforce’ tracks, the other being Russia and here, Abu Dhabi.
These go-cart type circuits with lots of cornering and less high-end speed demands clearly suit Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull car and once that is understood his price of 33/1 looks outrageously generous.
