With four finalists, Mark Wallis is likely to win the Gold Cup final at Henlow on Sunday. But a good old fashioned study of the videos have steered me clear of favourite Chubbys Caviar and should send you running to Paddy Power where you can back kennel-mate Busters Bullet at 8/1. Why?
Firstly Busters Bullet, who is housed in the red box, is only 9/2 at Bet365 and they are shrewd dog racing cookies.
Secondly the make-up of the race makes him look like the only greyhound assured of a clear-run. 5/4 favourite Chubbys Caviar, who goes from 5 has a fast starting Itsur Mate (3/1 Bet365) to his right and despite being a wide runner, I’m pretty certain he will turn left at the opening bend - which is near 90 degrees at this venue. Whether they collide or not, both of these dogs struggle to get home over this journey and have very little in hand on the ‘clock’ against Busters Bullet who has very few races on his card, two slow starters on his outside (meaning a clear run throughout) and the very real prospect of showing improved form.
I can definitely see him leading off of the second bend and with only one dog in the final being a true stayer – Towstar Arry who will be well adrift at the outset – I don’t think he will be caught. That’s the plan anyway.
OK, it’s all theory but at 8/1 a definite stratagem to work from.
