The Worlds End heads The Messenger Saturday Bets
Haydock 2.25: The Worlds End
Class act in this contest is The Worlds End who ended his novice campaign with victory in the Grade 1 3m novice at Aintree, a similar flat left-handed track to Haydock. The going of course that day was totally different, but he has good soft ground form too, having hacked up at Chepstow in mid-winter. He might have gone close in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham but for coming down two out. Trainer Tom George is looking at a campaign against the top 3m stayers if today goes well.
Ascot 3.15: San Benedeto
Bryony Frost has been enjoying a terrific first season as a professional and she can gain another big race success with San Benedeto in this valuable handicap.
Paul Nicholls’ gelding is a much better chaser than he was over hurdles and was clear of the others when gamely chasing home Politologue in the Haldon Gold Cup last time. That proved he remains on a feasible handicap mark and the presence of Sire De Grugy in the field, plus Frost’s 5lb claim means he gets in here with under 11 stone to carry.
He took high rank amongst last season’s novice chasers, culminating in a grade 1 success at Aintree. He also won over this course and distance by a comfortable 7l and should enjoy the going which is quicker than at most tracks currently.
