Roy The Boy previews the 2017 Eurovision and he likes Bulgaria to win and Israel to finish in the Top 10.
Back No.25 Bulgaria in a race where the draw is critical
Betswot readers, those that followed our Eurovision advice on Italy, should be feeling good about themselves. We have been recommending a lay of them for months and, with 24 hours until the final begins, they have lost their tag as favourites. In fact their price drift has been amazing. Solid odd-on shot for months, they have gone from 4/5 out to 2/1 in the space of 72 hours.
They cannot win, the song is naff, their singer is wooden, the gorilla that comes on stage during their act is not funny or entertaining and the song is performed in Italian. Only once in the past 21 years has a non-English song won (Serbia in 1997).
But, more importantly, they have been drawn to perform ninth on Saturday night. Check out where the winners have come from in recent years:
YEAR WINNER’s DRAW
Portugal are the new favourites and they have not fared too much better, going on stage 11th and, guess what, their scruffy looking male solo performer sings his number in Portuguese.
So we are opting for Bulgaria (4/1 Power) who have been given the ultimate draw in 25 (of the 26 acts to perform). Their teenaged singer has a strong number which has a chorus that can be sung along to. That’s always vote-winning credentials.
The best of the ‘camp acts’, those that will appeal to the gay voting audience (estimated to be 40% of the overall votes) is doubtlessly Israel. Their solo male singer is very macho but dressed like he bats for the same team (as does his two male dancers). Despite being drawn 1 the curtain raisers can easily make their way into the top-10 at a whopping 8/1 at SkyBet.
